RICHARD J.
Richard J. Arena, Sr., of Coraopolis, PA, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on December 26, 1934, in McKees Rocks, PA, the devoted son of Italian immigrant Angelo Arena and Cecelia Vattimo.
Richard was the beloved husband of Ann Weisner Arena for 59 years, until her passing on February 17, 2015. The two met at Coraopolis High School and built a life rooted in faith, family, and enduring love.
He was a devoted father of six children: Richard Jr. (Georgette), Kathleen, Christopher (Clare), Adrianne (Ronald), MaryJo, and Patrick (Kelly).
Richard was a proud grandfather to Kristen (Shawn), Sarah (Adam), Robert (Kara), Rachel (Ryan), Christopher (Jenny), Caralynn, Charlene (Jordan), Kent, Nikki (Cooper), Brooke, Daniel, TJ, Aaron, Brenden, and Gavin. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Owen, Evelyn, Payton, Rowan, Kaison, Cash, Harper, Myles, Lydia, Joseph, Rose, and Ann Marie.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Marie, and his siblings: John Arena, Eugene Arena, Helen Pavlish, Bette Younker, and Joseph Chiodo.
Richard was the founder of Hillview Personal Care Home, where he provided compassionate care to the elderly for many years. Above all else, he cherished his family. He also loved family vacations, time spent at his mountain camp in Clarington, PA, and walking the Montour Trail with his beloved dog, Cookie.
A faithful parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Coraopolis, Richard was a member of the church choir and the Knights of Columbus and remained actively involved in parish life. He was known for his can-do attitude, his love of cooking -- especially his famous "fast sauce" -- and his gift for gardening.
Richard will be remembered as a devoted family man and a man of deep faith, love, loyalty, and devotion—now reunited with his beloved Ann.
God bless you, Dad.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
